On March 14, the Catholic Education Foundation hosted its annual Salute to Catholic School Alumni dinner at Louisville’s Galt House Hotel to celebrate the accomplishments of seven Catholic school graduates, an outstanding Catholic educator, and a special community recipient. With a sellout crowd of approximately 2,000 on hand, the Foundation announced a record $470,000 net from the event. Substantially all the proceeds from the event will be used for tuition assistance to families who want their children to attend Catholic schools.

hrough the leadership and guidance of Archbishop Thomas C Kelly, in 1997, the Catholic Education Foundation of Louisville was formed as an independent foundation for the sole purpose of advancing Catholic education through granting financial aid to and for students of Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Louisville, Kentucky.

The Foundation’s long-term goal is to provide sufficient financial assistance to families of the greater Louisville community so that any family who is willing to make some personal financial sacrifices may be able to choose a Catholic school to educate their child. We see our schools as centers of academic excellence made available to all. Also, we consider Catholic Schools to be an inspiration to challenge all schools to excel in educating our children.

Most Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D.
Archbishop of Louisville

Aid and assistance is given in the form of need-based tuition financial assistance and grants for adaptation of technology at the student level and development of teacher professional skills. The Foundation does not support capital building projects, institutional salaries or post secondary education needs.

An independent Board of Directors governs the Foundation and oversees the daily management of the Executive Director. All funds received by the Foundation are exclusive property of the Foundation and are invested in the name of the Foundation by an Investment Committee of the Board and all grants are made by and approved by the Board.

The Foundation does not advocate or influence the specific direction of any particular school or issue but rather simply supports the Archdiocesan approved plans for education.

The Foundation is a qualified 501(c)(3) organization.
