ULMER SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Ulmer Scholarship Fund has been made possible by the Daniel C. Ulmer Family who graciously donated $500,000 as a challenge grant to create a $1 Million scholarship fund. Specifically, the Ulmer Scholarship Fund will support new students to Catholic schools by providing 40 incoming kindergarten students with a $2,500 scholarship to any of the 40 Catholic elementary schools in central Kentucky when school begins in August 2016. Each student’s award is renewable annually through grade 8 if the family continues to require financial assistance.

Mr. Daniel C. Ulmer, Jr. of Louisville commented, “Our family supports the mission and goals of the Foundation and its funding partners, and we want to help accelerate the pace of growth in Catholic elementary school enrollments across the Archdiocese by issuing an invitation to any family who wants to get started with this life-changing experience for their children but cannot afford its full cost.”

Mr. Ulmer continued, “Without question, Catholic schools have provided important values to me and my extended family, and we are excited to help make these valuable opportunities available to others who also can benefit from this wonderful tradition. On behalf of my entire family, this gift reflects our deep appreciation for the great gift of Catholic education in our lives.”

Archbishop of Louisville Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. shared his excitement for this new scholarship program. “Thanks to Dan Ulmer and his family, we will reach out and provide tuition assistance to 40 more kindergarten students next fall and further provide each of these families a guarantee of our support all the way through the eighth grade. What a unique way to show our commitment to families throughout their entire Catholic elementary school journey! And how blessed we are by the amazing generosity of Dan and his family!”

Families who qualify for the Ulmer Scholarship may also qualify for additional tuition assistance awards from the Foundation and its funding partners. Recipients are chosen based on the results from the PSAS Application.
