AT&T FOUNDATION AWARDS TECHNOLOGY GRANT TO DESALES HIGH SCHOOL

Grant to Enhance Rapid Development of STEM Program

Press Conference to be Held on Tuesday, November 6

(Louisville, Ky.) – The Catholic Education Foundation of Louisville (the “Foundation”) and DeSales High School today jointly announced that the AT&T Foundation has awarded $5,000 to support DeSales High School’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (“STEM”) programs. This grant provides funding to the school for a classroom set of Bioloid Robot Premium Kits.  A press conference will be held at the new DeSales High School STEM lab on Tuesday, November 6 at 10:00 a.m.

The implementation of the robot kits will directly impact 75 students, but will indirectly impact the entire school through collaborations with the other STEM areas as well as business and community outreach programs. This grant will support the STEM program at DeSales through project-based learning focused on robotics and coding activities that will help improve students’ skills in engineering, coding, critical thinking and problem solving.

“AT&T is proud to support the Catholic Education Foundation and DeSales High School in their effort to better serve local students,” said Hood Harris, President of AT&T Kentucky. “Our company’s future, as well as the country’s, is dependent on today’s young people. Through Aspire, we support programs that invest in students, especially those who need it the most, so they can walk across the graduation stage ready for their future.”

Foundation President Richard A. Lechleiter remarked, “Thanks to the wonderful generosity of AT&T, students enrolled in the DeSales STEM program will continue to have accelerated access to real-world learning opportunities through technology and business development opportunities.

DeSales STEM instructor Jennifer Lewis noted, “My students are very excited to get their hands on the new robotics technology.  They are already mastering conceptual instructions and have begun implementing the technology to solve real world problems! “
