Jeanne Byerly Lechleiter passed away on January 16, 2021 at the age of 92. Throughout her life, her beloved Catholic faith was her true joy and unending strength. Along with her husband, John Howard Lechleiter, they raised their nine children in that same spirit, providing each of them an elementary education at St. Stephen Martyr School. Their five sons graduated from Saint Xavier High School, while their four daughters graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. All of their children are college graduates, with eight of them attending Catholic universities.
Each of their 27 grandchildren attended Catholic schools.
In celebration of her 90th birthday, the endowment fund was established to forever remember Jeanne and John’s unwavering commitment to Catholic education. Earnings from the fund will be used to provide tuition assistance to families who can’t afford the life-changing gift of a Catholic education for their children in the Archdiocese of Louisville.
